Based at Woodbridge
Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils have a fantastic coastline, numerous market towns and villages, all within a sensitive cultural and environmental landscape and with significant growth challenges. We are leading the way when it comes to working in partnership. We have merged most of our services, including our Planning & Coastal Management Service to ensure that we are delivering them in a high quality and cost effective way.
Based in our Development Management Team you will be responsible for assessing and making recommendations on householder planning applications, as well as carrying out a range of enforcement duties.
You will bring a range of planning experience gained either in the public or private sector, including work recognised by the RTPI for Membership requirements. You should ideally hold a professional qualification recognised by the RTPI (or equivalent) or a qualification that will give you access to an RTPI accredited course. Although a fixed term contract, this is a career post, and there will be support given for your continued professional development.
A good, confident communicator you will have strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to listen to, and influence others. You will be able to work to deadlines and be a good team player.
This role will provide a great opportunity to develop a career in a forward looking partnership with key major projects within a beautiful area, including Sizewell new nuclear build, BT Adastral Park, the Port of Felixstowe and the regeneration of Lowestoft and associated renewable energy opportunities.
For an informal discussion regarding this post, please contact Phillip Rowson, Planning Development Manager 01394 444442 or Liz Beighton Development Management Team Leader (South) on 01394 444778.
Closing date: 22nd October 2014
