Reading Borough Council is looking for an experienced Tree Officer to lead a small team of arborists and be responsible for the maintenance, inspection and surveying of trees on Reading Borough Council managed land.

A detailed and up to date technical knowledge of your subject is key, together with a proven track record of managing people and resources. A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills, you will be customer focused and able to liaise with other council departments, contractors, councillors and partners.

Main responsibilities will include: • managing a detailed condition survey of trees on council land and developing a tree maintenance programme
• carrying out tree inspections/surveys and offering sound expert advice relating to tree management and safety
• advising council planners and insurers and being a credible witness in the case of insurance claims• ensuring the council complies with its statutory duties for the care of its tree stock
• recommending and implementing actions to make best use of resources to maintain the estate.

You should have a Foundation Degree or HND in Arboriculture and be able to demonstrate diverse experience and knowledge relating to the role. A full driving licence is also required for the role.
