Location Reading Play Service

Reading Play is looking for a creative, energetic and highly motivated Early Years Play Practitioner to join their team. You will need to be both passionate about your work with Early Years and excited about the opportunity to deliver a wide variety of different play sessions to children throughout the Reading Borough, and occasionally beyond.

As a Community Playworker, you will be supporting and leading a variety of different types of play including creative and physical, whilst actively seeking to engage children in play throughout the sessions and encouraging children to participate in play. You will also need to be able to form positive working relationships with the children, their parents/carers, and with key partner organisations such as Children’s Centres, Schools and Nurseries.

Although the role is primarily focused on providing Early Years play, you will also be required to support and potentially lead other sessions with older children up to the age of 13 in a variety of settings including parks and open spaces, schools and special schools. A proportion of time will be spent working at one of our after school clubs. You will therefore need a flexible approach to the types of work you undertake and the hours you work.

This is a part-time position of 24 per week, but during the holidays these hours increase to up to 40 hours per week. An FE qualification or higher in childcare or equivalent is required for this role. A full, valid UK driving licence is also required.

Please do not send a CV. For the purposes of equal opportunities, we can only accept Reading Borough Council application forms. An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be sought from the successful candidate.
