Enthusiastic about reading with the ability to excite others about books and authors, you will lead your colleagues to build and extend Stock and Outreach services across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. This role makes an important contribution to the Library, Arts and Heritage (LAHS) Unit Management Team, working across all three service strands as necessary.

Key targets will be to increase borrowing from the 14 libraries across the Borough as well as e-borrowing, and to build a sustainable programme of activity promoting the joy and benefits of reading as a leisure and learning activity. You will also be required to meet challenging income targets, to raise the profile of the LAHS Service and to raise levels of usage of all of the Service’s delivery points.

You will have a wide-ranging taste in reading, an awareness of reading trends, an adaptable style and excellent verbal and written communications skills. Experience in completing funding applications and monitoring budgets is essential. An awareness of the benefits of social media and e-resources in the promotion of reading and library services is important.

You should ideally be a qualified librarian educated at least to degree level or equivalent. The role involves managing a diverse team of staff to effectively sell the advantages of library and related services to a wide range of stake-holders and potential stake-holders in order to help secure continued investment in improvement of the LAHS.

Flexibility is essential. The role involves regular evening and weekend working across a seven day rota and the ability to get to any location in the Borough.
