Vision and outcomes

The council's vision is 'to make Northamptonshire an excellent place to live and work'

The council's Jigsaw poster illustrates how we will achieve this vision. It lists the four corporate outcomes which have been agreed as council priorities:

• safer, freer and stronger communities
• a secure, healthy and independent future for our children, our young people and our adults
• a cleaner, greener and more prosperous county
• a smaller, more enabling council, focused on our customers

The jigsaw shows how these outcomes will be delivered through eight major projects and 11 key enablers, our service plans and our individual efforts.

The competency development programme will ensure that our individual efforts are all directed towards the same goals and to an agreed set of behaviours.

The jigsaw also shows that the council's goals and outcomes are linked to the Sustainable Communities Strategy and the Local Area Agreement 2 which in turn are linked to national priority outcomes from the government's Comprehensive Spending Review 2007.
