Main Purpose of Job
To manage and maintain a fostering service for children in accordance with statutory requirements and good professional practice.
To manage staff across the fostering team who undertake the recruitment, assessment and support of foster carers, including the provision of counselling to unsuccessful applicants as appropriate.
To lead and promote the development and provision of a comprehensive fostering service and be responsible for the organisation and planning of work as designated by the service manager.
To assist the service manager in preparing for Ofsted inspections and participate fully in the inspection process.
To provide reports and statistical information in accordance with statutory and departmental requirements.
To undertake case audits and quality assure work within the fostering team to ensure standards of practice are being adhered to.
To manage and monitor the delegated team budget and ensure all financial transactions are processed within prescribed timescales and in accordance with the council’s financial regulations.
To participate in recruitment, induction and professional supervision of staff and appraisals in order to ensure ongoing continuous professional development of staff.
To develop and maintain internal and external working relationships with partner agencies.
Applicants must hold/have the following:
• Significant post-qualifying experience and understanding of fostering, fostering regulations and standards
• Qualified social worker registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
• Full Driving Licence (valid for use in the UK).
• Demonstrable experience of staff supervision and development.
• Demonstrable experience of staff performance management.
