This is an exciting new job within the Maintenance Services team where you will be responsible for managing the delivery of the mechanical and electrical (M&E) servicing contracts through external contractors, with a bias towards mechanical installations, in particular water management, to ensure full compliance with M&E legislative and regulatory compliance across L&Q’s housing stock.

You will work closely with the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Manager and M&E engineering colleagues. You will make a real difference developing an effective, efficient and responsive management process to support L&Q’s corporate objective of achieving Operational Excellence.

You will have expert knowledge in the servicing, repair and replacement of mechanical installations. You will be required to manage the contracts of the external contractors who are engaged to carry out the various contracts e.g. domestic and commercial mechanical installations, pumps & tanks, air conditioning, solar/PV etc. A major function of the role will be the management of water installations and ensuring compliance with ACoP – L8. You will monitor the progress of these contracts, identify issues and action remedial measures to ensure high level contract compliance and resident satisfaction. You will also need to demonstrate an understanding of performance management to ensure that quality and value for money is achieved at all times.

L&Q are major provider of new homes and have a large programme for the construction of these properties. The post holder may represent the Maintenance Services team, at various key stage meetings, with a view to ensuring that M&E services are fully considered in the design and construction of the new developments. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of design and energy use requirements regarding Part L of British Standards and Code of Sustainable Homes.

It is essential that you are a first class communicator with experience of working with a variety of different stakeholders. You will be able to liaise effectively with contractors, residents, solicitors, and our own technical and administrative staff. You will need practical experience of managing specialist mechanical and electrical installations and have a detailed understanding of best practice in the delivery of such contracts. You will need to be computer literate and be able input and retrieve data from computer management systems. You will possess a relevant building services mechanical qualification to HNC level or equivalent.

You will need a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle on a daily basis as this role requires the post holder to be mobile (travelling to various sites).
