When you look for a new employer, choose somewhere that cares as much about its staff as it does about its customers. We place a strong emphasis on staff training, welfare and development. L&Q is a charitable housing association offering people the chance to buy or rent homes throughout London and the South of England.
L&Q are strengthening their management of health and safety through a 5 year strategy. This strategy has established a full H&S team and due to a vacancy arising within that team we are looking to recruit a Health & Safety Officer.
Reporting to the H&S/CDM Manager, but working on your own initiative, you will support the roll-out of the Strategy across L&Q and bring health and safety standards and practices to a high standard within a pragmatic approach. You will provide the lead role on worker related safety matters including lone working along with other related duties such as delivering H&S training, auditing and monitoring staff engagement and safe behaviour.
You will be professionally competent with a minimum of a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (Level 3) and be affiliated to an internationally recognised H&S organisation or institute. You will be able to demonstrate in depth experience in an Occupational Health, Safety & Welfare Advisory role ideally gained in the Housing Sector.
You will also posses a thorough knowledge of relevant Occupational Health & Safety legislation, underpinned by Continuous Professional Development; and an additional qualification in, or experience of, providing Occupational Health advice would be advantageous.
You will be familiar and competent in Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint, and will have used this in delivering the safety message through reports, statistics and training.
Your approach and attitude will be equally as important to us as your academic qualifications. You will be a strong team player who is happy to have a hands-on approach in helping to achieve a ‘safety culture’ within our organisation. You will be willing to undertake personal development as necessary.
If you enjoy working in a fast moving environment and you really want to make a difference to residents and staff, then we look forward to hearing from you.
