Peabody was founded 150 years ago by London banker and philanthropist George Peabody – to ‘alleviate the condition of the poor and needy’ in ‘this great metropolis’ of London.

Working in nearly every London borough, Peabody provides over 20,000 homes for over 55,000 people. We also have one of the largest community regeneration programmes of any housing association. Our focus is on helping people and communities to grow, ensuring our estates are springboards not safety nets.

  • In the last 15 years alone we have helped more than 15,000 people to achieve qualifications and almost 4,000 into work.
  • Over 50,000 people have benefited from our flagship well-being programme Activate London, funded by the Big Lottery Programme.
  • We spend £3m a year on community support projects that improve access to employment, training and opportunities that have a positive impact on people’s lives.
