Southwell Courtis a modern two-storey property in the South Cambridgeshire village of Melbournproviding residential care and support for 35 older people. Developed in 1994in partnership with South Cambridgeshire District Council and registered withCambridgeshire Social Care, Southwell Court provides a home for older peoplewho, through increasing frailty, are no longer able to live independently.

We are currently recruiting for Support Workers who will beresponsible for providing quality, cost effective services to residents inaccordance to Metropolitan’s policies and procedures and any relevantcontractual or legal requirements.

The Support worker will undertake care duties and assist inassessing care needs for each individual resident, taking account of dignityand choice and acting as a keyworker, or co-keyworker for certain residents.You will assist residents with daily living skills, which may involve mealpreparation, administering medicine (after training), dressing and intimatepersonal care, as well as organising and occasionally accompanying residents oneducational, spiritual, work or leisure pursuits.

This position is for 19 hours per week, however there may be opportunities to work additional overtime hours where authorised by the Project Manager. The role involves working some shifts with minimal supervision, accordingto the rota, following a period of induction.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Willingness to provide all aspects of care whereapplicable
  • Ability to undertake moving and handling duties(after training)
  • Ability to work a flexible shift pattern on arota basis, including weekends
  • Able (after induction) to work with minimalsupervision or as part of a team, and take decisions in line withMetropolitan’s policies and procedures
  • Willingness to undertake further / on-goingtraining
  • Able to communicate well
  • Reliable and trustworthy

Experience of providing care and support to an elderly orsimilar client group (voluntary experience also qualifies), an NVQ Level 2 inCare and current First Aid Certificate would be beneficial but are notessential requirements for this role..

We welcome applications from candidates who may be new tothis area of work, but have a broad range of life experience and feel that theypossess the relevant interpersonal skills and qualities required for thisposition.

Possession of a clean driving license and a willingness todrive Metropolitan / own vehicle would also be beneficial.
