Spelthorne Borough Council is seeking to appoint a full time assistant for the SPAN service. SPAN provides community alarms and a wide variety of telecare equipment to those who require support in order to remain living independently in their own homes for longer. The service is available to anyone who would benefit from it, but is predominately used by Older People. The role is very rewarding, where every day is different.

Your time will be split equally between office based administration of the service and visiting people in their homes to install and maintain equipment. You will need to have both strong administration skills and a thorough knowledge of a wide range of telecare and alarm equipment. Training will be provided where relevant in order to achieve the required level.

We are looking for someone with the following skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A passion for promoting independence for older people

A proactive approach

Strong administration and organisation skills

Keen to learn new skills

The role also requires call out cover in order to attend to any equipment breakdowns until 11pm during the week and 6am – 11pm at weekends.

It is essential that the successful applicant has a full driving licence and to have his/her own transport. An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure will also be required.
