OxfordCity Council is an ambitious council with an overall objective to make the city‘A world class City for all’. With a General Fund Net Revenue Budget of some£23 million per annum and a HRA with a turnover of around £33 million theCouncil is looking for an enthusiastic individual to ensure that its riskmanagement and insurance activities are fit for purpose.

TheCouncil has an overall workforce of around 1,200 staff, including its DirectServices workforce which provides labour for street cleansing, refuse collection, building works and groundsmaintenance using around 360 vehicles. It also has a stock of 7,500 council dwellingsand a large portfolio of other property with an estimated value of £475 million.The Councils Risk Management Strategy is an embedded part of service deliverybut does require someone to monitor, assess and review, and provide acontinuous awareness and refresher to service managers on what represents goodpractice in risk management processes. Main Duties &Responsibilities

Thispost is one of a team of 7 reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager. Yourprimary responsibility will be:

  • Toprovide advice, training, support, monitoring and reporting on risk managementprocesses within the organisation with a view to embedded good practice
  • Tokeep under review the adequacy of insured risks and liaise with the Councilsinsurers as appropriate.

Requirements for the role

Aswell as being educated to at least an A level standard you will ideally hold arisk management qualification and will have a track record of delivering riskmanagement and insurance services, preferably in a local authority environment. You will also possess strong communicationskills, good analytical skills and have a keen eye for detail.
