An opportunity to be seconded into Surrey Youth Support Services
for Probation Officers
As part of our commitment to partnership working, we are looking for a Probation Officer to move into a role with a youth support focus. This one year secondment opportunity will provide an exciting new role for a Probation Officer that will give developmental opportunities, including restorative justice approaches, and the chance to influence how transitional arrangements for young offenders coming into adult services are delivered.
The seconded officer will have key responsibilities in terms of case managing 16-19 year olds involved in the Youth Justice System or those entering/transferring into the Adult Justice System and managing the transition from youth support to probation where applicable; which will require a lead relationship with both Youth & Adult multi-agency Integrated Offender Management Units (IOMU’s) & MAPPA.
They will also ensure that their work with offenders meets the key strategic objectives of the Surrey Youth Support Service -
• More young people participating in education, employment or training
• and more young people safe from crime and anti-social behaviour
The post will be based with SYSS Merstham Youth Centre although they will also be expected to spend some of their time in the local IOM unit (Redhill Probation Centre).
The closing date for these roles is Midday 1st July 2013 with the interviews being held on Friday 12th July 2013
