We’re looking to do no less than improve the lives of the most vulnerable children in Reading!

We are recruiting to a new and exciting post in children’s social care, reporting directly to the Head of Social Care/Assistant Director. We are looking for a dynamic, skilled leader who has excellent organisational and influencing skills. You will have a proven track record of service improvement and innovation within children’s social care.

Together with 3 other Service Managers, you will be a member of the senior management team of children’s social care and will manage a range of services, including the new Edge of Care Service, Youth Offending Service, the lead link to the LSCB and leading on developing our ‘Think Family’ innovations. You will also lead on a number of strategic projects including implementation of practice improvement to meet the requirements of the Family Justice Review in Reading.

You’ll need to be able to demonstrate that you are already offering excellent leadership in the management of a broad range of teams that work with statutory social care cases. You’ll act as the strategic lead for partnerships and play a lead role in developing the future shape of social care including development of wider family services, reviewing critical cases and leading new commissioning opportunities.

So, do you have:

• experience in the statutory children’s social care environment and are GSCC Registered?
• knowledge of key legislation, policies and issues driving change in the children’s social care sector?
• a proven track record of leading, managing and improving the effectiveness of service delivery to the most vulnerable children?
• experience of leading excellent multi-agency working?

If so, and after reading the Job Description you think you’ve got what we’re asking for, please apply now.
