Network Technician

Network Technicians are IT professionals. Under the supervision of the Group Operations & Technical Project Manager a Network Engineer is responsible for the operational running and development of the corporate network for Newcastle College Group.

All networking aspects of networking relating to the NCG network are within remit, including; core data centre, main site & remote office connectivity, wireless, device/switch management, capacity planning, monitoring and project delivery.

They contribute to the work of the team by supplying specialist knowledge and skills combined with high analytical and problem solving abilities. Their knowledge and skills combine with other team and department staff to provide an consultative approach to delivering new and innovative services for the business while maintaining the operational stability and improvement of existing systems.

Job Purpose

To provide expert level of technician knowledge and skills in the support of the NCG corporate network. This post will contribute to all areas of the teams work. The focus will be primarily, but not exclusively, the work ofthe IT Development Team. You will have excellent understanding of customer care, with an active approach to day to day work. The ability to prioritise workloads effectively is an essential skill within this busy department. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
