The Regeneration and Enterprise Division is tailor made to create a culture of enterprising neighbourhoods, where economic and physical regeneration help drive improvements in neighbourhoods and town centres and create an environment where residents, businesses and third sector organisations can flourish.

Central to this is the Communities and Neighbourhoods Unit, working to engage with local residents, businesses, voluntary organisations and community groups in support of the council’s regeneration initiatives creating a “sustainable” framework for local regeneration.

We are now seeking to recruit a high calibre, pro-active individual to work as part of the team, to provide effective community engagement and community based approaches to tackle unemployment and to support the Division’s wider regeneration objectives.

You will have strong analytical and project management skills, with an ability to communicate well orally and in writing and a track record of delivery and team working. You will also have:

•A very good understanding of employment issues and of community based approaches to tackling unemployment;

•Practical experience of community development, capacity building, regeneration, neighbourhood development, partnership working, and of working with local communities, voluntary sector and local businesses.

•Experience of developing and implementing projects aimed at tackling unemployment including supporting people into work and training in community settings.
