Role Purpose

Provide generalist support on Heritage, Conservation and Urban Design matters that meet the needs of Tower Hamlets’ multi-cultural communities.

Undertake to support and assist with the provision of a Heritage, Conservation and Urban Design service including:

- conservation and urban design pre-application proposals and applications;

- developing conservation and urban design policy including as part of all Local Development Framework (LDF) documents as relevant; and

- delivering conservation urban design input on key Plan Delivery projects and initiatives.

Promote the work and services of the Directorate through effective liaison with other internal and external services and bodies.

To contribute to the delivery of the spatial elements of the Community Plan through the effective application of planning and development tools and powers in accordance with the council’s visions and values.

To contribute to the regeneration of the borough through the effective application of all planning powers and partnership working with regeneration agencies within and outside of the Council.

Key Responsibilities

Provide generalist support and carry an allocated case load ensuring that all work is undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements, the council’s policies and procedures and to the best professional standards for the benefit of the residents of the Borough, with particular reference to matters including building design, urban design, heritage & conservation, trees, access, site appraisal, area proposals and the general environment.

Requirements

All applicants must meet the relevant criteria as set out in the Person Specification for this post, including a minimum entry qualification of a first degree or equivalent that would allow entry onto a RTPI accredited post-graduate planning degree course.
