In the heart of Berkshire, Bracknell Forest is a small, unitary authority with excellent communications, an expanding population and expensive housing. The presence of multi-national, high-tech business brings relative prosperity; the community continues to work with the social legacy associated with the creation of a new town in the country, whilst the population grows increasingly diverse. The Council is committed to investing in schools, services and community provision, to enhance opportunities and environments for learning for all, to promote social inclusion, and to ensure the health, well-being, success and involvement of young people.
The focus of the Educational Psychology Service in Bracknell Forest is to ensure that it is equipped to offer schools, settings and partners optimal support as they tackle the challenges of social inclusion. The service is influential in shaping strategic direction and facilitating development in operational practice, offering:
• A Consultation based service to schools and others engaged with children
• Early Intervention and quality Assessment for the most vulnerable
• Psychological Advice, when required, and
• Research and development/project work, to the highest professional standards.
A vacancy has arisen enabling an Educational Psychologist to join us to work closely with friendly, supportive and talented colleagues; a rich and diverse range of officers, advisers and support services, whose aim is to increase the capacity of schools, families and the community, to meet the needs of all its children and young people.
If you anticipate shortly achieving qualification as an EP, Bracknell Forest offers an excellent opportunity to further your skills and your understanding of the local authority context. We take clinical supervision, support and professional development very seriously. This post is a generic one, which will ideally suit a new entrant to the profession.
This is a Full time post. 0.5 fte permanent, 0.5 fte temporary to 31.3.13 in the first instance, but expected to become permanent thereafter.
Alternatively, if you are an experienced EP looking to work less than full time, (min 0.5 fte) and feel that you would be the right person for us, we would also be interested in hearing from you.
For an informal discussion about this post, please telephone Anthony Riches, Principal Educational Psychologist, on 01344 354018, (e-mail ).
Interviews: 13 July 2012.
