Location:The Guildhall, Hull 

HM Coroner for the Hull and East Riding District.

Hull City Council is the relevant authority for the jurisdiction of Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire. The post is advertised due to the retirement of the current post holder.

Salary will be paid in accordance with the JNC Circular of Coroners pay. This is a whole time coroner appointment within the population band of 400,000 – 700,000. A 5.5% supplement is also payable should the appointee join the Local Government Pension Scheme.

It is essential to have a general legal qualification within the meaning of Section 71 of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990 or be a medical practitioner fully registered with the General Medical Council. In either case, the qualification must be for at least 5 years.

This post is a significant ambassadorial role in which essential criteria includes sound knowledge of coronial law, the administration of legal procedures and experience in operating court procedures. Budgetary control, leadership, and operational management are also key aspects of this position.
