Epsom and Ewell is already a great place to do business but we need you to help us take it to the next level.

Epsom & Ewell Borough Council, in partnership with Bride Hall & Carlyle – owners of the Ashley Centre, is committed to improving the diversity and strength of the Borough’s economy by promoting the benefits of the area to both new and existing businesses, whilst making the most of its considerable assets.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to work with us to fulfil this aim. You will be responsible for:

  • Promoting the economic interests of both Epsom town centre and the Borough as a whole
  • Fostering Epsom’s economic health, working with the Ashley Centre and Epsom Market
  • Supporting local businesses and encouraging inward investors, sign-posting businesses to sources of finance, advice and other support
  • Implementing initiatives linked to its University Town status and proximity of Epsom Racecourse
  • Working with partners to assess the feasibility of a Business Improvement District
  • Supporting the work of the new Epsom & Ewell Business Partnership and Forum
  • Developing initiatives under the Borough’s vision for economic vitality as set out in local plans and contributing to the work on the Civic Investment Fund and Purple Flag status
  • Working with Gatwick Diamond and the Coast 2 Capital Local Enterprise Partnership.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will be a self-starter able to work confidently and collaboratively with a range of individuals and organisations from the private, public and community sectors both locally and regionally. With experience of successfully managing projects, you will be organised, professional in your approach, proactive and able to deliver under pressure. Also, you will need to be willing and able to work in the evenings and weekends as the job requires.

You will be experienced in Town Centre Management and broader aspects of promoting economic vitality. Awareness of communications and marketing techniques and working with large and small businesses would be an advantage. A specific qualification in Town Centre Management and/or Marketing is highly desirable.
