Our Community Mental Health Team provides a whole range of specialist services for those with serious or enduring mental health problems. Their efforts are designed to promote recovery and enable people to get the most out of life.

As part of this team, you’ll help dispense a variety of services including multidisciplinary assessments; community interventions; and community-based services.

You’ll co-ordinate your clients’ care plans, ensuring that they and their families or carers play as full a part as possible in all decisions. Although you’ll have a caseload, you’ll also take part in an out of hours duty service.

There will be relationships to maintain with GPs, hospitals and other agencies, so it’s important that you’re a good communicator. We’re also looking for a range of other qualities: IT skills, a qualification (CQSW, CSS, DSW or equivalent) and a talent for organisation.

Above all, you must be confident dealing with people with mental health problems. You’ll need to know about building relationships, recognising risk and all relevant legislation and policies. A registered social care worker, you could deeply affect your clients’ lives.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake a satisfactory disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the Council.
