Birnam Wood PRU supports pupils with behavioural and learning difficulties from Year 7 to Year 9. We wish to appoint a permanent Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work as a member of our team of professionals responsible for the education and care of the children in the school.
You will be involved in contributing to the teaching and learning programme in accordance with the ethos, aims and objectives of the school. You will work as part of a team, being a ‘partner’ in supporting the pupils’ access to learning and the whole curriculum and their independence as learners. The pupils can exhibit challenging behaviour so a calm, yet assertive personality with a sense of humour is required.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake a satisfactory disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the Council.
