Internal Only
Taking responsibility for the provision, day-today management and development of the HITS Network Support team is no easy task, but that’s the challenge that awaits you here at the heart of the council’s ICT operations. As well as managing the technical, professional and administrative functions you’ll also be expected to develop innovative solutions and effective policy and instruction to customers. Indeed, you’ll administer the service to a diverse client base that consists of 2500+ users across all council sites, often giving detailed advice at a senior level, as well as building relationships with our Business Transformation Partner, other partners and suppliers and senior management. You’ll also play a key role in transfer, transition and transformation activities as part of the ongoing HITS ITO project.
With an appropriate ICT qualification or evidence of continuous professional development, your experience of managing network infrastructures or initiatives includes working for a large, complex organisation and juggling conflicting priorities utilising industry standard project management and control techniques. Accordingly, you are acknowledged as having the expertise to advise on the development and delivery of services in this field.
What’s more, you have excellent communication and relationship building skills and a broad understanding of legislation and government policies and devising strategies to help deliver them. You will need previous experience of
managing people since a team of Technical Support Consultants and Desktop Analysts will be under your remit. Change management experience at service level is also key, as is a clear understanding of the current and future
technological developments and their potential application within and for the council. Sound judgment and the ability to solve complex specialist problems should also come as second nature to you, whilst third party support management skills are also important.
As part of the council’s HITS ITO project, this role is likely to transfer to a selected provider within the next 3 months
Closing date: 19th of February.
