About us

As the Organisational and Workforce Development service, we have a distinctive approach to our role of supporting employees at both Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire county councils.

We are not a traditional training unit. Instead we work in partnership with directorates and divisions across both councils to support colleagues to develop new skills, knowledge and competencies. This enables them to flourish within their role, in line with both councils’ strong commitment to professional development, leadership and management and providing social care workers with key skills and career development.

We are keen to promote and facilitate the continuing professional development (CPD) of all employees. We have a clear expectation that:

• All employees are entitled and expected to undertake some training and development each year
• For employees with management responsibilities this should include at least one leadership or management development activity.

We provide a diversity of support and training needed to ensure that all roles and responsibilities are performed effectively across the organisation and that all staff are well supported in their work.
