Senior Standards and Effective Manager

Working as part of the wider senior Standards and Learning effectiveness Team within Children’s Services, you will provide a strategic lead to improve school performance. You will be leading a Team of advisers and consultants, working with schools, services and partner agencies to ensure resources are in place that will secure improved outcomes for young people in East Sussex. We will be looking to you to support and promote collaborative arrangements between schools as a strategy for increasing capacity and sustaining improvement across 11-19. The Team leads a range of projects aimed at raising standards and achievement levels including Making Good Progress and Achievement for All – two high profile government initiatives – East Sussex is one of only four Local Authorities selected to pilot them both.

Responsibility like this brings a major challenge. It is also an opportunity to show what we’re capable of as a Local Authority, to have a really positive impact on education in the county and improve the learning outcomes of our pupils.

A senior manager with a proven track record at secondary level, you’ll bring a relevant post-graduate qualification, an in-depth understanding of KS3, 4 and 5 and exceptional leadership skills. This will be matched with the ability to influence and steer strategy, decision-making and policy formulation. Experience of developing strong working relationships in a multi-agency setting and managing budgets will also be important.

The salary for this post is £61,827 – £64,961 per annum (Soulbury scale for Improvement Professionals, Spinal column point 28 – 31 plus 3 SPA points).
