The Officer’s duties will cover all aspects of rights of way management – including site inspections of paths with regard to the County Council’s maintenance and enforcement responsibilities. The role involves the resolution of obstructions on public rights of way, dealing with applications to make changes to the path network, giving evidence at public inquiries and Magistrates court and liaising with other authorities, landowners and user groups regarding all matters relating to rights of way.
You will be expected to have experience of working in a rights of way/ countryside environment, possess excellent communication and diplomatic skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and undertake path inspections in varied ground and weather conditions. Knowledge of relevant legislation, as well as familiarity with GIS and other IT applications is also essential. Membership of IPROW is an advantage.
