University Tutor in Design & Engineering

In recognition of the success within the School of Engineering, the University of Portsmouth would like to appoint a new University Tutor in the area of Design and Engineering. The post will work with academic teams in the School and will also engage in activities across the Faculty of Technology.

We are seeking to appoint a well qualified and highly motivated member of staff who will make a difference in the education of the future generations of engineers and product designers. The tutor will undertake teaching, tutorial and practical work supervision and the development of learning activities. The tutor will also contribute to the design, delivery and administration of assessment and contribute to the excellent pastoral care in the School.

The post will contribute to the delivery of core and specialist units in Product Design and Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering programmes, with particular teaching in CAE activities and so subject expertise in computer applications such as ProE, AutoCAD and Photoshop are essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in product design and product development studies, including product and engineering innovation. They will also be enthusiastic about teaching and assessing in the HE and outreach activities.

Additionally the successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with staff from a number of academic disciplines and with relevant professionals and organisations who may wish to make use of our facilities. There will be opportunities to gain a recognised HE teaching qualification and/or study for a higher degree if appropriate.
