Ref: 4072 We are strengthening our combined out of hours service for vulnerable children and adults, and those with mental health problems. We have created new posts to better meet the needs. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated person who can prioritise and react calmly to emergency situations. We are looking for experienced, confident workers with expertise in assessment of and intervention with vulnerable adults, mental health and child protection issues.
You will be supported by experienced colleagues and managers. The team is based at Bradley Fold, a short distance out of Bury town centre and works from Monday to Friday 16.45 to 9.00am, and Friday 16.45 pm to Monday 9.00am. Bury is a small and friendly authority, with a stable workforce, focused on high standards of practice. This is a great opportunity to work with an enthusiastic team, focused on the needs of vulnerable adults and children and their families. Bury is committed to the professional development of its staff, and you will receive excellent support with plenty of scope to build your skills. You need to have a Social Work qualification, Approved Mental Health Practitioner status and substantial post-qualification experience in social care. You will have high professional standards and an ability to operate at a strategic management level. Employees of Bury Council have a responsibility for, and must be committed to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and for ensuring that they are protected from harm. Appointment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. In order to support budget reductions in Local Government, the Council looked at many ways to reduce spending that minimised the need to reduce employee numbers or impact on services. There are two measures which have been put in place which are applicable to all staff up to and including the Chief Executive: • Incremental progression within grades has been frozen until April 2014 and
• all employees are required to take an additional 3 days (unpaid) annual leave. This can be taken at any time during the leave year The cost of these additional days is spread over 12 months or pro rata to your start date. For an informal discussion, contact Liz Shingler, Service Manager 0161 253 6168 Interviews will take place provisionally on Thursday 13th June 2013
