A postdoctoral position, funded by the BBSRC, is available to work with Dr Anthony Lewis ( http://www.port.ac.uk/research/ibbs/pharmacologyandclinicalimmunology/ionchannelresearchgroup/ ) on the biophysics, regulation and physiology of a novel family of two-pore outwardly rectifying potassium channels. The project will involve ion channel characterisation using electrophysiology, molecular biology and pharmacology, yeast genetics, microbiology and microscopy.

The research will be conducted in a newly refurbished laboratory within the New St Michaels Building at the University of Portsmouth. The Ion Channel Research Group forms part of the Institute of Biomedical and Biomolecular Sciences ( http://www.port.ac.uk/research/ibbs/ ) in which there are more than 30 principal investigators forming a critical mass of experts with diverse research interests including biomolecular structure, molecular medicine, neurophysiology, genetics, biomaterials and biotechnology and neuro-oncology.
