Ref: 4065 The LDST2 supports Service Users in a variety of properties across the borough, providing care and support to people with learning disabilities. We are looking for a Support Assistant to work 22 hours each per week on a rota basis. The role involves working shifts on a rota basis including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins. You will provide direct support and care to a Service User in their own homes and in the community, enabling and assisting them to live an ordinary life and make informed choices. You must be able to demonstrate you have experience of working with people who have a learning disability either in a work or voluntary setting and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues faced by this Service User group. An NVQ Level 2 in Care is desirable and appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau disclosure at the enhanced level. You will be required to register with the Health Care Professions Council, and in line with the relevant timescales. Appointment will be subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure. This is a Genuine Occupational Qualification, Equality Act 2010 applies. Appointment will be on merit In order to support budget reductions in Local Government, the Council looked at many ways to reduce spending that minimised the need to reduce employee numbers or impact on services. There are two measures which have been put in place which are applicable to all staff up to and including the Chief Executive: • Incremental progression within grades has been frozen until April 2014 and
• all employees are required to take an additional 3 days (unpaid) annual leave. This can be taken at any time during the leave year; the cost of these additional days is spread over 12 months or pro rata to your start date.
