Part–time Mobile Information Centre Officer Salary – £18,453 to £20,198 (pro rata)
Working pattern: part-time – 21 hours per week
Contract type: Permanent Closing date: 22 June 2012 The Mobile Information Centre is an advice and information service for Salford residents – a vehicle equipped with wireless ICT to enable customers to access all Council services and systems. It also has books and other materials for loan. Do you want to be part of this exciting initiative for Salford people? If you have effective communication and ICT skills, a high level of initiative and the ability to drive safely, you could be the person we are looking for. You would be one of two officers responsible for driving the Mobile Information Centre and providing information, library and advisory services to customers in their own communities and homes. You would also be responsible for planning routes, securing guest advisors from partner organisations, and for marketing and developing the service to reach the diverse needs of the residents of Salford. The Mobile Information Centre officers are part of the wider team offering similar services in Gateway Centres and libraries, and you would spend part of your time working in these venues. We are looking for people who are self-motivated, enthusiastic, receptive to innovative ways of working and keen to offer a high standard of customer care. You must have experience of working in a customer services environment, an awareness of Council Tax or Housing related issues, and be able to drive a vehicle 8.2 metres (27 feet) long and 7500kg in weight (an HGV licence is not required). Hours of work are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8.30 am – 4.30 pm. Some flexibility will be required and staff are occasionally asked to work at other times. The service will not operate over Christmas and New Year, and at other designated times. Staff will be expected to use leave during these periods. Applicants are asked to ensure that they demonstrate in their application how they meet the criteria of the person specification.
