These exciting posts will provide high quality family support work in schools supporting new arrivals in particular, from nursery to the end of the primary phase.
As a family support worker, you will improve communication with identified families whose first language is not English, develop understanding of education provision, promote access to school places and integration into school life.
Ideally you will have experience of working in an education setting, supporting the needs of learners and families at the early stages of learning English.
You will have good English language skills and be fluent in at least one other language. We are particularly interested in Czech, Slovak, Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian.
If you have the skills and commitment to develop this role, and understand the needs of vulnerable pupils and of schools, we would like to hear from you.
These posts are funded through the Migration Impact Fund and are available until 31 August 2010 in the first instance.
Job sharing considered.
Interviews will be on Thursday 25 February 2010
