Are you looking for a position from September 2009? We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working and flexible person to join our team of Learning Mentors.
The Brakenhale School is a rapidly growing, friendly 11-19 secondary school where support for each student is personalised. Consistency Management and Cooperative Discipline®, a whole school Teaching and Learning initiative introduced in 2003, has transformed student attitudes to learning and has helped staff to raise achievement. We are committed to achieving high standards for all of our students and believe that every child in our school matters.
We have a team of Learning Mentors based in the Learning Support Unit, reporting to the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Originator). Learning Mentors provide an additional and complementary service to the school by working with individual students to remove barriers to learning. Learning Mentors work with school staff and other agencies to ensure the progress and achievement of students.
The ability to command and show respect; confidence in dealing with young people and ability to show initiative and flexibility are required. Experience of working in a school environment and/or educated to a degree level would be an advantage.
Salary details: £14,400 per annum for 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus 5 teacher training days). Full time (whole year) equivalent: £17,200 per annum.
