Clerk to the Governing Body

This is a key role providing administrative and advisory support to the Governing Body. The job holder will be responsible to the Chairman of Governors.
Responsible for preparing agendas in consultation with the Headteacher and the Chairman of Governors; taking and writing up the minutes at governors’ meetings, and distributing documentation and other information to the governing body. The clerk will need to become familiar with the Guide to the Law for School Governors and provide advice to governors as necessary.
There are usually 5 meetings of the full governing body per year but attendance at additional committee and sub-committee meetings will be required throughout the academic year. Willingness to attend evening meetings is essential.
The successful candidate will attend the termly briefing sessions held by the LEA and take advantage of training sessions that may be offered.
Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills are essential. The job requires someone who is a good communicator who works equally well using their own initiative or as part of a team. Experience in a similar role would be advantageous but not necessary.
