Clerk to the Governing Body

Salary:£8.63 to £13.07 per hour  

Hours:approximately 25 hours per term 

Working pattern:Part Time, Term Time, Permanent position 

Location:Crown Wood Primary School, Bracknell, Berkshire

This is a key role providing administrative and advisory support to the Governing Body. The Clerk to the Governing Body is responsible to the Chair of Governors.

Responsible for preparing agendas in consultation with the headteacher and chair of governors; taking and writing up minutes at governors’ meetings, and distributing documentation and other information to the governing body. The clerk will need to be familiar with the Guide to the Law for School Governors and provide advice to governors as necessary.

There are usually 3 meetings of the full governing body per year but attendance at additional committee meetings may be required. Willingness to attend evening meetings is essential.

The successful candidate will also be expected to attend the termly briefing sessions held by the Local Authority and take advantage of training sessions that may be offered.

Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills are essential. The job requires someone who is a good communicator who works equally well using their own initiative or as a part of a team.
